Sebago Lake has been providing naturally clean drinking water to Maine’s largest city and surrounding communities for over 150 years. This rare resource is one of only about 50 out of 13,000 water supplies in the United States that is so pure it does not require filtration before disinfection and supply to consumers. This is a tribute to the natural filtering system from the forestland surrounding Sebago Lake. This natural filtration system is shrinking due to rapid development in the area. With only 17% of forestland permanently protected, downstream water quality, pristine wildlife habitat, and public access to nature and outdoor recreation are at risk.

Sebago Clean Waters is a coalition of conservation organizations collaborating with a local water utility to permanently conserve 25% of these forests by 2032. Protecting this land will not only help ensure that 1 in 6 Mainers continue to have clean drinking water, it will also provide connected habitats for fish and wildlife, natural climate solutions, and outdoor access for all. Impact ings and projects may change based on availability. Grove Collaborative is committed to transparency and sharing data on Grove Impact Shop purchases, aggregate customer purchase totals and updates for ed impact projects as available from impact partners. However, individual donation reports are not available. Your contributions to these programs should be considered in-kind services supporting the missions outlined below by our curated assortment of non-profit and for-profit impact partners, as well as Grove’s maintenance and curation of the Impact Shop. These purchases are not tax deductible, nor are they a donation. In the event that your selected project becomes unavailable your contribution will be earmarked towards a substantially similar with equivalent environmental impact ed by the same project partner that you selected.

A portion of each purchase is dedicated to the maintenance of this program, and our commitment to high-impact, high-quality impact projects to the Grove community.
